I have known Steven for a number of years and have been deeply impressed by his enthusiasm and effective efforts to promote the appreciation and understanding of the sport of Triathlon. Combined with his own experiences, interest in technology and new up to date training techniques & ideas, I decided to engage with Steven as my coach 2 years ago. Given my own experiences and while doubting the methods/sessions at times, “trust the plan”, his focus and commitment has kept me in check to successfully achieve my personal goals. As a partnership, it works and can only recommend anybody thinking about being successful in triathlon, to take on Steven as a coach!

5 weeks ago I was seriously doubting my ability to finish, and started looking ahead to my A race – Weymouth 70.3 in September. With a little help from Smart Endurance Solutions in adapting a newly purchased plan (for Weymouth) in order to get me to the start line yesterday I managed to surpass my expectations of the day and finished the half marathon super strong! I’ve been working with Coach Steven as my coach since late 2015. He’s has a great flexibility to his approach which really suits any Athlete’s personal circumstances. Since he has been my coach I have achieved a number of personal bests at various distances, also I’ve learn’t a lot about the sport outside of the day to day training, understanding what to eat prior to a race, also how to prepare myself physically & mentally on race day.
TrainingPeaks is ideal for our Coach / Athlete relationship having a young family & busy job it allows us to plan ahead but move sessions easily if required. The rich data the platform provides also allows us to agree small changes to ensure we maximize the benefits of every session. The e-mail alerts when Steve comments or changes a session really helps me plan my day according to what I need to achieve as an athlete, employee & Father
A wonderful training plan that fits in with my busy work lifestyle. The sessions are well prepared and well thought of with many little bits of advice along the way. The guidance will get you through to race day leaving you with much confidence, meaning you only need to remember to bring your kit! Last year I set a goal to race in Ironman Western Australia. Considering at that stage I was 122kg and hadn’t raced in 9 years, it was a big ask.
I needed a plan.
Through Training Peaks, I discovered a 48 week Ironman plan for beginners offered by Coach Steve. The plan was reasonably priced for the duration and detail and offered support via email.
Had i of known how much support, the timeliness of the support and the quality of the support before I signed up, I’d had thought I was getting the too good to be true plan.
Steve is FABULOUS!
He has been a wonderful support over the last 9 months. He has been patient with my questions, all 3000 of them. His advice has been wonderful and his encouragement has been appreciated.
So brilliant has Steve been over my journey to date, when my Ironman was cancelled and I deferred to Ironman Cairns in June, Steve was the first I emailed to lock in a new 70.3 plan to take me to Geelong 70.3 in February and on to my first Ironman in 2021.
Today I’m fitter than I’ve ever been and thanks to the super easy to follow plan that builds progressively and which is achievable each week, I am also 27kgs lighter.

I just completed my first Ironman after buying your training program. I didn’t really hit most of the training on the days but hit what I could week to week. Had a few mechanical issues on the 140.6 so easily could have gone faster but with my minimal training I’m pretty happy with the results and still have lots of room to improve.

The first time I trained for an Ironman 70.3 I just found a workout on the internet. It worked, but that’s it.
Being able to bounce questions off of Steve throughout the training has been a major confidence boost for me. I feel like I’m actually doing things the right way now! And it’s more fun to have a friend encouraging you along the way!!
As a beginner to both TrainingPeaks and using a coach, I was thoroughly impressed with how simple and (so far) effective Coach Steve’s plan is. I’m quite hot on hitting the right sessions at the right intensity to be able to be the best athlete I can come race day and Coach Steve’s method has allowed me to be rested for the hard sessions and spent enough after to enable strong benefits through recovery. Steve has also been very helpful with answering any questions/suspicions I may have in using my data, planning for the race, and choosing the right plan. I’m currently about halfway through my race plan, and already itching to get going!
I bought the 24 week Olympic training plan and it has exceeded my expectations.
Not only are the workouts clearly defined in Training Peaks with usefully notes, but the additional support via email has been excellent. Any issue or concern I had was quickly responded to with a helpful answer.
I bought the plan with hopes of a PB and ended up knocking 10% off my overall time 🙂
