Just to say many thanks for the 12 week half IM training plan. I completed Dun Laoghaire in 5:54, albeit with the shorter swim. Delighted.
Having struggled over the last couple of years with injuries, health issues and the big 6 0 fast approaching I was close to retiring from any type of training. Then I came across Steve via Social Media and after a few E Mail conversations his enthusiasm and encouragement relighted the tri passion in me. Currently 13 weeks into a 70.3 50+ plan which is easy to follow and understand and with Steve's quick responses to any E Mail queries is as good as having a 121 coach.
I approached Coach Steve from Smartendurancesolutions back in September, as I wanted to have a second opinion on how structured marathon training would work for me – so I bought his advanced marathon plan. From the beginning Coach Steve was very friendly and answered lightning fast all the questions I had- although I’m a decent runner with a pb of 2:51 on the marathon – regardless the question, he was there with a good advice or a joke 😉. Truth is that for those 35 usd paid on the plan you just get more then that – so once this marathon plan is completed, I’ll continue working with Steve on my next goal – sub 10h IM (currently sitting at 10h, with a pb of 10:01 and several other around 10:15). Bottom line – I’m very happy with the choice I made and can’t recommend Smartendurancesolutions enough.
I’m 11 weeks into my 46 weeks Beginner Ironman plan. This is my first try at training for a triathlon. What I liked even before purchasing this plan is that I could write an email for coach Steve and get answers for all my concerns. At the time I was in ~4h marathon shape, had some past experience in cycling, and almost no experience in swimming, so we decided that a Beginner plan will suit me the best. At first, it felt that running volume is really low and I’m detraining in my strongest triathlon discipline but in few weeks when cycling volume ramped up those thoughts disappeared. Actually, having less running and more cycling keeps me away from running injuries and I’m faster now than I ever was. I’m probably not in marathon shape anymore but there are 35 weeks of the plan left with plenty of 20+km long runs. Another thing that I liked is tests for HR zones for cycling and running. Finally! Finally, I’m training in zones that i feel are right. In the past, I’ve recalculated my zones using different approaches at least 5 times and they always felt off. Now I feel that I’m really training in the zone that workout prescribes. Swimming. I can’t really talk about that because I’ve only swum for the first few weeks of the plan then due to quarantine all pools were closed, I’ve switched to strength and mobility workouts instead. Last thing. Coach Steve quickly answers all my questions, e.g. what to do when the pool closes, what is the best approach to brick workout, and so on. Overall I feel confident that following this plan I will be an Ironman finisher.
Had a great weekend in Cork with Steve and Neill . Very informative weekend and worth every penny . Really gave me an insight as to where I’m at and set my mind at rest in relation to some fears I had about the bike course . Defitily worth the trip . Steve very professional and no question was left unanswered
Thank you coach Steve for the programme and the support when needed for me to complete Ironman bolton. If I ever do another triathlon I will 100% be speaking to Steve again!! Thanks coach
Have been training for a number of years under coach Steve and I have to say he is brilliant and very flexible with training sessions. Any questions are answered /cleared up very quickly. Sessions will be planned to your abilities & availability.
Highly recommend coach Steve 👍
I purchased a triathlon 70.3 training plan off Smart Endurance Solutions. It has been a well laid out plan that challenges me yet isn’t so challenging as to deter me from training. It also provided a good balance of swim, cycle and run training
Loving the plan, started the 32 week beginner 70.3 plan in early Jan with A race coinciding with Cork in August. Been following it to the letter and while I’d be a strong swimmer and cyclist, I’m seeing massive gains in my run having gone from a 1:45 half marathon to running an 18km training run comfortably in z2 at 4:50 average (including 2km warm up and cool down), at the tail end of a 3 week base block! If you’d told me that 6 months ago I’d have laughed at you
Hi Coach Steve
I am in the last few weeks of my prep for Ironman South Africa. 29 March 2020.
I have learned so much from your program. Thank you very much
I did Dublin City triathlon yesterday, standard distance, first one since 2015….I was happy with how it went. 1st in age group, even though there was only 3 of us😀
I liked the training plan and I loved all the heart rate training and could definitely see improvements.
I want to thank you for the excellent plan and material you constantly send out. I am doing great with my plan I feel it is well structured
