Happy new week! I wanted to share I took part in my first Olympic triathlon last week and got 3rd place in my age group. More importantly, is that I felt strong and comfortable during the event which was my goal! The placing was an added bonus
I used the beginner Olympic training plan for my first ever triathlon.Coach Steve's guides, YouTube videos, and carefully mapped out training plan, which flexed with my own HR/training zones through the Training Peaks app, made it clear what my goals around every event should be. I felt his training plan was foundational to my success – I exceeded my goal time and had a blast doing it. I will come back to him for any future training plans!
The combination of this training program and access to coach Steve is invaluable.
The first time I trained for an Ironman 70.3 I just found a workout on the internet. It worked, but that’s it.
Being able to bounce questions off of Steve throughout the training has been a major confidence boost for me. I feel like I’m actually doing things the right way now! And it’s more fun to have a friend encouraging you along the way!!
I am using the "INTERMEDIATE Olympic 8 week plan, Coach email access, reusable, HR BASED" plan through Training Peaks. Loving it. Thank you
Finished with a 6:09 and change. I was really happy with it overall.
Appreciate all your help along the way!
Had to start from scratch in my triathlon career andCS was recommended to me by a friend. He has been awesome from start to finish – "No such thing as a stupid question – unless you ask it too late" to quote the man himself … he is patient, detail-focused and seems to give a shit! I already have completed my first sprint and standard distances and am thinking long next year… all possible due to CS – thank you so much (p.s. I also beat the friend who recommended CS to me – first time ever)
Couldn't be happier with my IRONMAN training plan. Very easy to follow from a beginner's point of view
Switched over to a smartensurdance plan for my next upcoming IM and so far it has been night and day with other plans. Two biggest benefits so far are firstly the zone and output effort variations are keeping me fresh and continuously improving my metrics while allowing recovery at precise times, and secondly it has taken all of the guess work out of my mind as the analysis provided in the scheduled trainings are granular in design yet simple to follow and my gains very traceable.
Loving the plan, started the 32 week beginner 70.3 plan in early Jan with A race coinciding with Cork in August. Been following it to the letter and while I’d be a strong swimmer and cyclist, I’m seeing massive gains in my run having gone from a 1:45 half marathon to running an 18km training run comfortably in z2 at 4:50 average (including 2km warm up and cool down), at the tail end of a 3 week base block! If you’d told me that 6 months ago I’d have laughed at you
I’ve just finished an excellent 70.3 training weekend in Youghal with Steve and Mark.
They took us round the course (including the infamous Windmill Hill!!!) and gave us lots of advice on the course itself, training, nutrition etc .
At best I’m average and I’ll admit I was a bit anxious that the weekend might have been too fast and more for stronger athletes but I was thankfully wrong- we divided into groups and worked together and it was great. And really good fun!!!!!
The structure is the game changer. I started with a decent level of fitness but absolutely no clue on how to advance. The personal program with excellent feedback from Steve all ultimately made me a sub 3 marathoner. Can't recommend enough and as a bonus, Steve is just a nice guy. Genuinely one of the best coaches in the country now and his accolades speak to that.
Coach Steve is awesome. If you are reading this review because you consider buying one of his plans then stop reading and just buy it now. And if you doubt which plan is right for you, just send him an email to ask for advice. I used his 36 weeks Beginners plan to train for my first Ironman, and everything went as smooth as can be. I got to the start line strong and confident, and to the finish line happy and still strong after a great run.
Not enough space here for the praise he deserves!
