Followed the 70.3 training programme from Coach Steve on training peaks prior to competing in Tri X, advertised as the world’s toughest half iron. This was my first triathlon and I couldn’t of done it without the excellent training advice. Going into the race the fittest I have been in a very long time, taking 6th in my age group and 21st overall. Thanks Coach Steve, on to the next one!
A wonderful training plan that fits in with my busy work lifestyle. The sessions are well prepared and well thought of with many little bits of advice along the way. The guidance will get you through to race day leaving you with much confidence, meaning you only need to remember to bring your kit! The author is very approachable and helped me pick out the right plan for me and went out of his way in doing so. I am very appreciative of that and would certainly recommend Steve to everyone. Thank!
Just back from an excellent training camp on the ironman cork course hosted by coach Steve and Niall , very informative and great attention to detail, despite some challenging weather managed to get some solid training done, have a bit of craic and pick up some very useful tips, couldn't reccomend these camps enough !!!!
Thanks again for your responses, its refreshing to speak to a coach who seems to care about what the athlete is purchasing
I completed my first 70.3 this week. Thank you so much for the beginner training plan! The event was a blast, and I surprisingly completed/finished feeling strong. I was actually amazed that I was not tired during the run and I owe a lot of that to your plan. I am already browsing what other plans you have out there!
Yesterday I raced in the Nepean Triathlon in Sydney. This race is Australia's oldest triathlon, celebrating its 40th anniversary.
I had a good race, coming 3rd in AG with a course PB!
Coach Steve had the job of mentoring & preparing me for the IM Cork and a half-distance event in Galway.
Without his guidance/tips and tricks, I would not have got on as well as I did.
His humor/patience / experience were all vital and helped get me and also many others through the day”
Steven has been coaching me this year and I’ve had a great season – completing the NS for the first time in 4 years, injury free. My performance has improved and he has delivered a quality personalised training and recovery program that allows me to maintain a healthy work, life AND training balance.Looking forward to working with Steven again next year.
Have loved reading the SMartEnduro Community updates and motivational stories over the past year. Have done a few sprints and Olympics during the season but waited until my A race to post. Firstly, thanks to coach Steve for setting out a progressive and challenging training programme. I won’t lie, I didn’t stick to it meticulously but it was great motivation when other things, covid, family, life, posed distractions!!
Recently used your intermediate 16 week Olympic plan and managed not only managed to PB my local race in Connecticut but also got an AG podium. Felt I really came on leaps and bounds in my bike so thank you very much Coach Steve!
Steve’s training plans are really well tailored by event, duration, ability and age-group. Following his plan has made a step change to my training. Even though there has been no formal racing of late, I have seen continuous improvements in training ‘test sessions’ and virtual races. It has also been reassuring to have email access to Steve when the questions / doubts / second-guessing can creep in.
Thank you Steve.
Steve organised a fantastic weekend, steve along with Mark covered the swim, bike and run courses, advice on transitions, nutrition, fuelling on the go. Plus advice on training on lead up to the event. Couldn't ask for more for a triathlete to newbie Ironman competitor. Have the confidence compete on race day, bring it on!
