As a first time triathlete, I can definitely recommend the training plans of Steve. Over the last 6 months I’ve tried to do everything myself, but couldn’t see the wood for the trees. Which zone calculator to use? Which sessions actually work? How make sure not to undertrain? How not to overtrain? Steve’s training plans are straightforward and take all that guesswork out of it. Big bonus: the extremely fast responses to emails (24/7 it seems, do you even sleep?!) really help with all the little details that you usually just gloss over and provide even more peace of mind during training. All in all highly recommended!
Coach Steve and i started to work at the end of 2018. In May 2019 i finshed my first HALF DISTANCE, i was surprised how well prepared i have been. In September i finished another HALF DISTANCE, smashed my PB on one of the hardest courses on IM HALF DISTANCE calendar. Never in my life was i so fit and strong, this was by far best race ever. Now we are getting ready for full distance!
Steve is great coach, very responsive, always ready for good advice and guidance and always taking care of his athletes!
Great plan so far btw!
After completing my HALF DISTANCE in Barcelona at 5:53, I joined the PB Hit squad for improved training. Coach Steve and Coach Mark’s meticulous sessions and calls transformed my performance. With their guidance, I’ve achieved numerous PB’s since then. The PB Hit squad is the ultimate training experience for progress. I am sure that by joining the PB hit squad it has transformed my training.
I'm doing my 5th full IM this year – IMCA and chose Coach Steve's plan as I liked the longer duration and the 50+ training plan – 2 weeks hard, 1 lighter week. I had a complication tho as I'm doing the St George HALF DISTANCE WC in mid Sept then have 2.5 weeks of travel between St George and IMCA. Coach Steve came up with a revised plan that allowed for my race, recovery, travel and then enough key workouts to be ready for IMCA.
A great job, very responsive and I highly recommend him as a Coach!
Just back from Youghal. What a day and what an experience for my first ever triathlon! Lots of emotions right now that are hard to describe. . Overall I finished in 5hrs 39mins and I’m delighted with that giving family life, job, yada yada, you know…
I just wanted to say your plans were invaluable and so beneficial to making me hit my goal (and smash it). Furthermore, the free content you provide on YouTube was priceless.
Thanks again, coach. Here’s to ‘Sub 5’ next

Coach Steve is not for everyone! He’s not for you if you you need a pep talk every 5 mins!
He IS for you if you want detailed feedback, advice based on data, the facts! He is highly motivated and efficient, but he is also a sound listening board and a great mentor. What I found great is that he’s not afraid to stop the plan tailor the changes specifically for you!
Trust in the plan and the performance will follow! Everyone needs a ‘Coach Steve’!
I am fortunate to call Steve my coach for the past four years. He invests 100% in the process and is extremely dedicated to all of his athletes. What sets Steve apart is the value he brings to the process, with regular insights, tips and recommendations tailored to meet your training needs and race goals. Steve's tailored training plan ensured I completed my first marathon in 2:53 and maiden FULL DISTANCE in 10:32. In addition, my times have improved each year, not bad for a man in his early 40's.
The weekly zoom meetings with Coach Steve & other triathletes, hearing about their races & training has taken some of the stress away, the information & advice is spot on. Thanks, Coach Steve for your support.
My Kona Qualification is a joint achievement by me working with Coach Steve. He took a chance on me almost 4 years ago when the only thing going for me was relentless consistency. I thought he would tell me what to do, to “train smarter” and if I did it to the letter, I would improve. What actually happened was much more collaborative, with us both listening to the other and sharing decisions together, modifying the plan as required, truly the difference between training and coaching
I presented Coach Steven with a unique challenge of being time deficient and only had limited opportunities to train each week. And those times changed often. He worked to constantly adapt to my timings while also getting the most out of the time available. I found this adaptability and ability to these challenges a commendable skill. Coach Steven also had an excellent ability to keep me focused on either the week ahead or on the FULL DISTANCE process, as required.
The plan has worked great and fitter that I’ve ever been coming into the race this Sunday.
