I had the pleasure of racing Barcelona FULL DISTANCE with Steven in 2019. I knew him through friends but he went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed as part of his training group. He gave a lot of very valuable advice in the build. I smashed my PB by 1hr and 30mins doing a sub10hr full-distance, 9hrs 30mins to be exact which qualified me for a PROFESSION TRIATHLETE LICENCE!!! After Barcelona, I signed up to his coaching with the intention to race at FULL DISTANCE South Africa and through a top 6 finish there qualifying for Kona, Hawaii the FULL DISTANCE World Championships, the Holy Grail of FULL DISTANCE. Over the 3 months leading up to the race, Steven had me in amazing shape. I never felt so prepared and ready to race. I was sure I would qualify based on my training numbers and the confidence he had given me. I continue to train with Steven waiting in the long grass for the next opportunity for Kona qualification. For anyone looking for a Triathlon coach long or short course Steven is your man, I can’t recommend him enough. He can be funny too at times but most of all I just enjoy beating him 🙂
I really enjoyed your beginner 36 week full IM plan for my prep for IM Florida this past weekend.
After 2 years of Covid cancellations , I finally made it to the start line of the 2022 Port Macquarie HALF DISTANCE FULL DISTANCE. It was hard to stay motivated through Covid lockdowns and weeks of rain, but Steve's program kept me focused and gave me a realistic training load and intensity. I realised I'd been overtraining, and Steve's program taught me the value of low heart rate sessions. I was impressed with Steve's quick response to emails and his reassuring and helpful advice. Thanks Steve!
Steve makes exercise enjoyable. I look forward to my next session every day. Steve's experience is very reliable. My overall well-being is greatly improved. The triathlon is secondary to the overall benefit of being coached by Steve. My wife loves what he has done to me. A word of warning, don't eat doughnuts during your interview.
Just to say many thanks for the 12 week half IM training plan. I completed Dun Laoghaire in 5:54, albeit with the shorter swim. Delighted.
Really enjoying the plan so far so looking forward to next phases
Got an excellent (beginners) IM program off (Coach Steve) via Training Peaks: Easy to follow prescriptions for endurance, threshold, and higher intensity sessions across all three disciplines. It’s got comprehensive instructions for swim drills, stretching for before/after the bike, and how much (by duration) S+C work to thrown into the plan which is really useful as a novice.
The plan progressively banks up fitness and strength over the months – I can see my fitness improving gradually week on week and the built-in step-back weeks are helping stave off injury and fatigue. The plan has taken the guess-work out of my training so I’m getting consistently stronger and faster.
A GREAT investment and better value for $ than any of the tri gear/gadgets I’ve bought! Experience counts.
The plan is very useful and practical ,its my first time doing a training plan with training peak , and its very good.
Loving the plan, started the 32 week beginner HALF DISTANCE plan in early Jan with A race coinciding with Cork in August. Been following it to the letter and while I’d be a strong swimmer and cyclist, I’m seeing massive gains in my run having gone from a 1:45 half marathon to running an 18km training run comfortably in z2 at 4:50 average (including 2km warm up and cool down), at the tail end of a 3 week base block! If you’d told me that 6 months ago I’d have laughed at you
I have seen many different types of leaders in my day – be that soldiers on the front line when I was serving with the United Nations Peacekeeping forces or business owners pulling their people through our recent economic turmoil – some bluff there way and some even falter but then there are those like Steve who just have it, who walk the talk and lead by example. His hard work and dedication forces you to raise your standards and when you are too tired to see this, he inspires you directly with daily and positive encouragement to stay the course and keep on keeping on. He reminds you of that ever so important WHY!! The WHY that gets you out of the bed at 5am to bike in the rain for endless hours. See, he to has that WHY and thats what drives his dedication, to better his craft, to learn more so he can do more and most importantly, give more.
When I first met Steve – yes, I could technically swim and yes, I owned a bike but I had NO business asking someone to get me injury free to the start and finish line of FULL DISTANCE Barcelona – and in just four months!!
Great plan! Gives you also excellent base fitness to participate half marathons and sub 5 hr cycling events.
I really liked your trainig plan for my HALF DISTANCE this year. I have the intermediate 30 week plan. The transformation I have done through over the last several months is astounding!
