I’ve never signed up to a structured training plan before.
So for me your plan & the structure & Trainingpeaks is great motivation. Trying to get those boxes to go green keeps me on my toes.
I really like the way the plan is laid out. Eg the swims are normally on the same days of the week, so it’s easier to plan them.
I already feel fitter & stronger than I have in a long time…..so the plan works 🙂
I am currently about halfway through your marathon off-season plan, trying to slowly build up my mileage after a rocky year of injury from running, ahead of a marathon block leading into a full distance full-distance block. The plan is going great and I am enjoying the variety and gaining fitness at a good rate without having to push too much in the off-season which is nice

Vancouver triathlon (olympic) was today for me with a PB, despite being with minimal sleep and training in the past 40 days (baby was born)! I haven't received the results yet but I am happy with the experience and my performance! Felt good passing some people with Team Canada jerseys on that bike! I emailed Steve prior to purchasing the training plan and he responded quickly with really sensible advice based on my triathlon history and current training volume. Of course being an 45 going on 12 year old age grouper I ignored all sensible advice an purchased the only plan that gives me any remote, long shot of getting to Kona….I’ve just finished my first month of the base phase and despite pushing through a couple of those weird one-day training head-colds due to the increased volume, I’ve loved every minute so far.
Having read and enjoyed Friel’s Training Bible I was still left with just a big empty spreadsheet and too many decisions to make for myself. I’m a normal bloke for god’s sake, tell me what to do or I’ll just sit and watch the Discovery Channel!
Steve’s plan takes away all the science, mathematics and preparation that a triathlete with a full-time job just doesn’t have time for. Once the testing phase is done, each session is is concisely described, training zones set and drills presented via video links etc. where appropriate. For bike sessions I don’t need to know any more than I have a bike session today, once I fire up Zwift, some black-magic means Steve’s session is already there in front of me and ERG means I’m training at exactly the prescribed power throughout, brilliant!
Moving sessions around the plan to fit in with other work commitments is easy and intuitive and for some reason I’m actually motivated to stretch for the first time in 25 years because it’s on the plan. Well I say stretch, think Uma Thurman in Kill Bill trying to wiggle her big toe, but hey, I’m trying.
In all seriousness, having debated throwing a few quid at a properly structured, proven plan for the price of a decent pair of runners, I now couldn’t recommend highly enough. Absolutely fantastic value for money
Great plan! Gives you also excellent base fitness to participate half marathons and sub 5 hr cycling events.
I am using the "INTERMEDIATE Olympic 8 week plan, Coach email access, reusable, HR BASED" plan through Training Peaks. Loving it. Thank you
Steve is a legend!! Received my personalised training plan for my 1st HALF DISTANCE and it looks class, he’s blended existing sessions with other coaches. Each session gives pointers and tips for best performance. Feeling very motivated as I start out on my triathlon journey!!

Good evening! I am coming to the end of my Olympic distance tri plan of yours I found on training peaks and wanted to share that I have really enjoyed the training process! Your workouts were easy to follow and I feel they have led me to being very prepared for my event (2.5 weeks out). Having followed a variety of plans in the past, I found yours to be particularly helpful and well-crafted!
Knocked out my first HALF DISTANCE this morning. Came in a little over 10 minutes under my goal of 5:30. Next to the training plan, Coach Steve’s webinar on nutrition and fueling was the most helpful tool for me. Couldn’t have had a better day thanks to all the tools and info available.
