This plan works!
I competed in the FULL DISTANCE HALF DISTANCE Lubbock over the weekend.
With Coach Steves plan I was able to finish in 05:22. I had a flat tire and a stuck chain which took 15 minutes off my bike time.
I was still able to shave off 50 minutes of my previous HALF DISTANCE time in Lubbock, and I know for sure that Coach Steves well structured plan played a big role in my PR.
I even got my spot for the FULL DISTANCE HALF DISTANCE World Championship in St. George in September.

I searched through a number of training programmes on Training Peaks and was delighted I chose Coach Steve and Smart Endurance Solutions.
From a long time absence away from triathlon, I wanted something that would get me up to date without having to think too hard, and that would also adapt to my own development.
So far it has challenged me without being over-faced. The Facebook community and ability to email Coach Steve is a really nice extra for such a good value package.
I did your Olympic 8 week training plan before (which was 8 weeks after my first marathon) and loved it! That is why I bought a second one 🤗
So Coach, the season is now done for me! I completed Outlaw X HALF DISTANCE on Sunday in a PB time of 5:13. My previous like for like was 5:36 in June 2019. So 2 years older and 23 minutes faster! Happy with that.
Last year I set a goal to race in FULL DISTANCE Western Australia. Considering at that stage I was 122kg and hadn’t raced in 9 years, it was a big ask.
I needed a plan.
Through Training Peaks, I discovered a 48 week FULL DISTANCE plan for beginners offered by Coach Steve. The plan was reasonably priced for the duration and detail and offered support via email.
Had i of known how much support, the timeliness of the support and the quality of the support before I signed up, I’d had thought I was getting the too good to be true plan.
Steve is FABULOUS!
He has been a wonderful support over the last 9 months. He has been patient with my questions, all 3000 of them. His advice has been wonderful and his encouragement has been appreciated.
So brilliant has Steve been over my journey to date, when my FULL DISTANCE was cancelled and I deferred to FULL DISTANCE Cairns in June, Steve was the first I emailed to lock in a new HALF DISTANCE plan to take me to Geelong HALF DISTANCE in February and on to my first FULL DISTANCE in 2021.
Today I’m fitter than I’ve ever been and thanks to the super easy to follow plan that builds progressively and which is achievable each week, I am also 27kgs lighter.

I am really happy about the program that you built for me.
Two weeks ago, half marathon in less than 2h and last week-end, this beautiful race IronMaori (quarter) in 2h42 swim 1km 18min bike 45km 1h32 run 10km 47m. Unexpected!
Training is hard but good. My body changed a lot! Skinner than usual but I feel a big change in my mobility and stamina.
So thank you so much again. You made miracles even if I know that the most difficult part is not happened yet.
I thought I would share my feedback.
The plan was great, the level of detail was perfect and all the additional info is a big help.
I appreciate the help, I’m looking at what one next abroad and I’ll be back for more. The plan gave me confidence so I’ll let you know once I book.
I recently completed my first HALF DISTANCE FULL DISTANCE race, and I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Coach Steve Moody and his team at Smart Endurance Solutions. Their Beginner HALF DISTANCE triathlon training plan has transformed me from someone who struggled to run 10km two years ago into a confident & capable triathlete. Was feeling a little underdone on training due to illness, but had followed Coach Steve's plan as best I could.
Conditions were freezing and windy on the day, but a great feeling of accomplishment post race.
I’ve never signed up to a structured training plan before.
So for me your plan & the structure & Trainingpeaks is great motivation. Trying to get those boxes to go green keeps me on my toes.
I really like the way the plan is laid out. Eg the swims are normally on the same days of the week, so it’s easier to plan them.
I already feel fitter & stronger than I have in a long time…..so the plan works 🙂
I really do appreciate your help with my strength training! It’s difficult to find a healthy balance with strength training and triathlon training. I know I need strength and conditioning to rehab my body and prevent me from getting injured further, but I also don’t want my muscles to be too sore or tired to perform in key endurance sets or races. This plan is easy to understand, well thought out, and conducive to strengthening your body to complement your normal endurance training. All exercises are ones that will benefit you in the sport, rather than just going to the gym and throwing weight around.

Just finishing up one of your excellent FULL DISTANCE base training plans – FTP up by 10% from start, completed the run test 20 secs faster per km than when I started – feeling strong!!! Thank you Coach Steve …. so now lets talk full plans!!! 😉
