For athletes seriously interested in potentially employing my coaching services – I follow a three step process
1) Athletes will fill out a short questionnaire in advance of any conversation/meeting – the purpose of which to get a rough assessment of their current ability/training regime/race experience to date and their goals for the upcoming season.
2) I will have either a skype or face2face meeting [location dependent – am based in Dublin] with the athlete to talk through the SWOT (Strength, Weaknesses, Opps, Threats) in relation to their target A and B goals – using the questionnaire to guide us.
This frank discussion will provide the following at a minimum
framework race schedule in terms of A and B goal,
skeleton proposed weekly training structure week that will be mapped to the athletes individual availability/constraints,
alignment of athletes/coaches expectations on how we will work together over the period of the program.
3) If all in agreement, we as a team will agree the kick off date, initial swim/cycle/run analysis sessions as required and start to push you towards achieving your goals

Great instructions by coach Steve and I’m looking forward to smash my training for this Marathon. The training peak app is very straight forward once you get familiar and with Steve’s advice
Completed the Ironman training camp last weekend in Youghal with Steve and would highly recommend! Great info and course specific knowledge learned during the camp. If thinking of doing an Ironman would recommend Steve’s training camp. Thanks again see you in August! Dave
Coach Steve put together a comprehensive training plan for 70.3 Mallorca. Steve took the time to make sure the plan takes into account Christmas break, my other commitments (college) and B races along the way. I’m really happy with it and started training this week with only 20 weeks to go to the race. Bring it on!!!
Steven has provided me with a wonderful 70.3 plan, and has incorporated my request to also include preparation for a marathon earlier on next year. I look forward to working with Steven over the coming months, and am really impressed with his guidance so far. Thanks Steven!
For that B race we targeted, I came in 2nd overall and won my age group by a wide margin. It was great to get some experience with that length of event, to practice my transitions, and to get more confidence going into my A race (Olympic) in two weeks. As you suggested, I didn’t taper at all and was able to continue with the plan by the next morning. Strong testament I think to your plan. My body feels good. Thanks again.
I just finished my Half Ironman—Gulf Coast 70.3 and I felt amazing! Thanks for all your help along the way. I got carried away and crushed the bike so my run suffered but I in the end I'm so pleased that I finished HAPPY AND HEALTHY!
Thank you sooo much for the 70.3 plan!!! It was perfect. I questioned the taper weeks so so little to do but day before race my garmin actually said peaking. I was recovered and fresh. I PR’d my 70.3 on same course I did last year first week of December. Attached is photos from garmin for PR proof:). Thanks again. Love your plans.
After completing a number of half Ironman’s I reached a plateau in training and was finding it difficult to move forward. I enrolled in a training program with Coach Steve and after setting my goals he starting providing feedback on a weekly basis on my sessions. In between I obtained pbs in sprint and Olympic distance. After postponement of events he changed plan to accommodate my desires. The result a 5.28 in Ironman 70.3 Turkey at 53 years without any major injuries along the way.
